The IAPA is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. We are working hard for you. When you join IAPA you get a voice in policy decisions that affect all Idaho PAs. This list is just a few of the membership benefits you get when you join IAPA.
This year we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first graduating PA class from Duke University. From those humble beginnings, there are now over 81,000 PA's practicing in the United States and roughly 525 practicing in Idaho. As you are well aware, our profession is in a state of flux as our government and insurers try to tackle the difficult issues of reimbursement and health care access, among other important issues. In Idaho, we suffer from a shortage of primary care providers and PA's are at the forefront of helping improve those numbers. Idaho State University is currently graduating 60 students each year, with roughly 60% of them staying in state. The University relies on several hundred preceptors who willingly take a student for up to six weeks to precept them in the art of medicine. As an Academy, we support the training of students and thank all of those who volunteer to precept. It is a gratifying experience to help the next generation of health care providers, who may one day be taking care of us and our loved ones. Click HERE for full message.
